Jeremy Jones began his engineering career at the age of fifteen, working alongside a professional land surveyor. After three years of surveying experience, he enrolled in the College of Engineering at The University of Alabama, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1996. During his college years, he gained valuable experience as a draftsman at a local civil engineering design firm and as a teaching assistant at the university.

In 2002, Jeremy earned his Professional Engineering License and became an active member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

Prior to joining 3 Axis Engineering, Jeremy accumulated twenty-four years of experience in transportation engineering. Throughout his career, he designed and oversaw roadway construction projects of various scales across Alabama. His extensive consulting background fostered a strong working relationship with the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT), where in 2016, he served as one of ALDOT’s team leaders for a statewide high-priority roadway safety assessment project. Additionally, he developed roadway projects for numerous municipal and county governments within the state.

In 2016, Jeremy joined the City of Tuscaloosa's engineering team as the civil engineer responsible for traffic engineering. In this role, he provided engineering solutions for signal configurations, signal timing, and roadway/intersection safety and capacity. He also collaborated with personnel from the University of Alabama and ALDOT as part of the Tuscaloosa Regional Transportation Operations Program (RTOP), where the three entities worked together to manage and coordinate traffic in and around the City of Tuscaloosa.

In January 2022, Jeremy joined 3 Axis Engineering, an accident reconstruction firm, where his expertise in traffic and transportation engineering enhanced their services to include civil and traffic engineering expert testimony.

By February 2025, Jeremy established JD Jones Engineering, LLC, focusing on civil engineering design and consulting services, particularly in expert witness consultations and testimony.
